You've Passed! What's Next?
You've passed - congratulations. Now, as they say, the real learning starts.
Passing your driving test is just like gaining any other qualification. It's an important stage but you are still missing an essential ingredient - experience.
Young drivers are involved in a disproportionately high number of accidents - because they simply don't have the experience required to judge situations correctly and react appropriately.
Only 16% of driving licence holders are under 21 but 25% of accidents involve a driver under 21.
That's no one's fault - it's life. However, there is something you can do to help get your driving career off to a safe start and save money on your insurance.
Pass Plus
Pass Plus is a set of six modules that are taught by your driving instructor and designed to help you gain the skills you need for real-world driving.
The modules are:
- a. In town
- b. In all weathers
- c. Rural roads
- d. At night
- e. Dual carriageways
- f. Motorways
Each of these is taught through practical driving sessions and there is no exam involved. Once you have completed all six, your instructor will sign a form to indicate you have completed the course and you will be issued with a Pass Plus certificate.
Once you've got this, many insurance companies will give you a discount on your insurance premium - often the equivalent of one year's no claims bonus!
