Test Drive An Electric Car At Eden Project – 15-28 August

Land Rover electric model developed for safari park use
An added bonus of this emission-free electric Land Rover will be its silent operation - the lions won't here you coming!

Visitors to the Eden Project between the 15th and 28th August 2011 will be able to enjoy the Sexy Green Electric Vehicle Showcase and test drive one of several electric cars for free.

The Eden Project is located near St Austell in Cornwall and is one of the most popular visitor attractions in the area, offering leisure, education and entertainment activities.

The star of the show (from 22nd – 24th August only) will be a Tesla Roadster. One of the first production electric cars, the Roadster is probably still the only true electric sports car and has head-turning performance and looks.

Cars available for test driving will include a Peugeot iOn, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Smart four two electric drive and a Nissan Leaf. Visitors will be able to take them for a test drive around the edge of the Eden pit on a first-come, first-served basis.

There will also be a concept electric Land Rover that has been developed for a South African game reserve and has a range of 80km – enough for a day’s safari action. Rides will be available in the Land Rover but you won’t be able to test drive it.

Admission to the Electric Car Showcase will be included in the normal admission price to Eden and experts from Cornish electric car specialists Ecodrive will be on hand to provide advice and information on electric cars for anyone that’s interested.

It sounds like an interesting day out if you are on holiday in the area – and a great way to get kids interested in electric cars while they are still young and open to new ideas!
