Only half the motorists questioned in a new survey knew how often they should check their cars’ tyres – and only a quarter of them actually followed this advice.
According to the Highway Code, drivers should check their cars’ tyres every week – checking that they are inflated correctly and looking for any signs of damage.
The survey, by Bridgestone tyres, highlights the lack of awareness about the importance of correct tyre inflation. 59% of men thought that they only needed to check their tyres every four weeks and only 37% of the women questioned knew that they should check their tyres every week.
Ensuring that your tyres are correctly inflated isn’t just for petrolheads – it will provide important cost saving and safety improvements on any car:
- Reduce fuel bills by as much as 5%
- Extend the life of your tyres by reducing premature wear
- Improve the handling and braking performance of your car
