There is (almost) nothing I like better than the chance to test some new car cleaning products, so I was very happy when a few days ago, a bottle of SP Wonderspray arrived on my desk from Spautopia.co.uk.
What Is SP Wonderspray?
With a name like ‘Wonderspray’, SP Wonderspray has a lot to live up to. According to the manufacturer, it is a “high performance, multi-purpose cleaner” that has been approved for military and aviation use, including by the MoD, British Airways, RAF, USAF and others.
SP Wonderspray is suitable for vehicle exteriors and exteriors and can be used on almost all types of surface – paintwork, metal, plastic, glass and upholstery, for example. It is mild enough not to do any damage but powerful enough to get rid of grease, oil, dust and those two summer bugbears for vehicle owners, insect and bird mess residue.
As it happened, my campervan was in need of a thorough clean inside and out, so I decided to put SP Wonderspray to the test on a variety of tasks.
Using it is simplicity itself – spray it on and then use a cloth (I used a microfibre cloth) to wipe it clean. It is very quick and I found that most types of mark and dirt simply wiped straight off. Here is a summary of what I tried:
- Wiped clean some upholstery that had scuff marks from shoes on it
- Clean/polish the dashboard and all interior plastic in the front of the campervan
- Clean the heavy duty rubber floor matting in the cab of my campervan
- Remove greasy and dirty marks from the paintwork under the bonnet
- Remove oily marks from the exterior paintwork
- Mirrors and plastic (motorhome) windows
You have to admit that this is a pretty varied selection of tasks, but SP Wonderspray coped well with all of them. No doubt I could get a separate product for each job and achieve a slightly better result – but that would cost a lot more and be much more hassle.
Besides, another benefit of SP Wonderspray is that it is water-based and appears quite mild – it doesn’t smell, it doesn’t do anything nasty to your skin and it is generally quite pleasant and very easy to use.
Here are a couple of before and after pictures – remember, this kind of cleaning only took a few seconds to spray and wipe off:
SP Wonderspray lives up to its name and is a fantastic all-round product for vehicle use. It can be used on a wide variety of surfaces and materials and is amazingly easy and quick to use.
It’s ability to remove oily/greasy marks is impressive and at £5.05 a bottle, it won’t break the bank. It’s an ideal all-round cleaner to keep in your vehicle, especially if you spend a lot of time on the road or don’t get a chance to wash it very often.

Update: I’ve just got back from a month away in my campervan during which I used Wonderspray for all of the tasks I listed above – plastic, windows, paintwork, insect residue & upholstery – plus a few more. It still works well. What’s more, it helped me remove most (not all) of the tar spots and other random marks left behind on my paintwork when I gave the van a wash after I got home. A really good product that’s nice to use – unlike many cleaning products.
