Newsletter

Welcome to the latest SimpleMotoring.co.uk newsletter. This month, I’d like to take a look at a new type of car insurance that could save safe drivers money.

I’d also like to tell you about a new service we’ve introduced recently.

New EU Rules Penalise Women Drivers

Last year, I wrote about the impact of a new EU ruling that car insurers could not discriminate between men and women when pricing car insurance – despite all the evidence that shows woman drivers have fewer serious accidents.

This new ruling, which came into effect in December 2011, meant that women drivers might have to pay more while men drivers paid less – hardly a fair system.

Black Boxes Could Cut Car Insurance Costs

One solution to this problem is ‘black box’ technology. This is where a small device containing telematics is fitted to your car to monitor how it is used and report back automatically to your insurer.

Factors such as time of day, location, speed, hard braking and aggressive cornering can all be recorded and used to calculate how much of an accident risk you are. Your insurance premium will then be calculated accordingly – often on a monthly, pay as you go basis.

Lady drivers should benefit from this technology as they usually use their cars less than men. Black box schemes are also proving popular with young drivers, who pay the most for their car insurance.

Save Money on Van & Minibus Hire

To finish off, I’d like to introduce you to a new price comparison service we are offering on our sister site, VanRental.co.uk.

vanrental.co.uk logo

We now compare van and minibus hire prices at more than 1,000 rental branches in over 400 UK locations – so there’s bound to be one near you.

Our system includes all types of van, plus 7-17 seater minibuses, so whatever you need, we will probably be able to find you the cheapest deal.

If you need to hire a van or minibus soon, why not click here and take a look?

Get in Touch

That’s all for this time – as always we would love to hear from you if you have any feedback for us – you can get in touch through Twitter or Facebook.

Best wishes,

Roland
